Voter Education Guide was formed in the spring of 2020 in response to the death of George Floyd at the hands and knees of officer Chauvin and his 3 henchman. The qualified immunity of officers of law enforcement that they receive when they perform killings and acts of violence upon American citizens needs to end.
I needed an outlet for my voice and my ideas and being a songwriter taped into my dormant my angry side and this is the result. Ain’t no justice was one of the first five songs I wrote in about one weeks time and the first to make it into Full Well studio for recording in spring of 2020. The song was written, performed, and produced by V.E.G and engineered by Kolby Peoples, without who’s assistance such a powerful work may not have been created. It compares the civil rights revolution of the 1950’s and 60’s to what America is experiencing today. We still have to sing we shall overcome today because we as citizens haven’t overcome yet.
The name Voter Registration Guide Came early as the music was being written. At the time I was trying to think of a name for this project and saw the Arizona voter registration guide on my counter that had recently arrived. Never had to think twice about the name. It says exactly what I intend to do.
George Floyd wasn’t the first and certainly won’t be the last killed by those whose unchecked power and immunity from prosecution have given them the ability to do as they please. The law stops above the thin blue line and we are citizens need to take back the power and hold those who abuse that power accountable. And for that I will scream and shout.
Thanks for listening, I hope that it changes at least one mind and inspires others to take up the cause.
